I have always heard that you should never make your hobby your profession.
It is always said that when money comes to the game, it takes all the joy out of it.
And to be honest, I firmly believe it. But I also believe in giving the voice of your heart a chance. It is better not to regret later than not doing what your inner voice say at the point. So, I am starting findanshul.com, which I had planned for years. I have been buying this domain since 2022 and renewed it twice without any work.
Now, it’s time to give it a heads up and start something new.
The Location
So, my name is Anshul Rana, and I live in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh state in India. It is called the Kangra Valley because of its distinct, low-lying lowland nestled between two major mountain systems, i.e., the Dhauladhar Range and the Shivalik Range.
This valley creates a humid subtropical climate. The climate is wet, with warm summers and mild winters, along with a naturally acidic and nutrient-rich soil. The area becomes a perfect place to grow crops like rice, maize, wheat, and sugarcane. In the upper and cooler region, you will find an abundance of Deodar cedar, oak, and pine forests.
However, in the forest, you will find gems that are either unique or untouched. Herbs like Atis/Patis, Brahmi (Centella asiatica), Satavari (Asparagus adscendens), Basunti/Bana (Vitex negundo or Justicia adhatoda) can be found growing natively and in abundance in the wild.
Beyond and besides the Kangra valley, there are some disturbed locations, and I reside in one of those locations. These places are neither hilly nor plain, don’t have very fertile lands, and have fewer water resources compared to the actual Kangra valley. We are totally dependent on rain for our crops and are considered a little backward in terms of accessibility and facilities.
Worklife
I am a freelance content writer, SEO, and a digital marketer. I am a B.E. (Bachelor of Engineering) in Electronics and Communication Engineering by education. I passed out back in 2016, and this March, I turned 31. I have worked in multiple companies and switched various fields over the past 10 years. It took a long time to realize that it is skill that matters in the end of the time if you want to get a job. But I respect my journey.
From this, you might wonder why I am into plants and rocks.
Simply, this is my hobby.
I love gathering knowledge of nature, as you can imagine. I love reading books on plants, rocks, and everything nature. I work from home, so after my work is done, I go out for hours and hours exploring new things and using the internet to gather data about them. I like to know the history of plants, rocks, soil, stones, flowers, animals, insects, etc.
Most of my work includes writing articles for my clients, mainly in computer hardware, technology, AI, and electronics niches. So, when I am exhausted after my 9-to-5, it is nature that resets me.
What motivates me?
I always wanted to document things that I do when I am outdoors. For the same purpose, I started my Instagram page called findanshul. The purpose of this page was just to be more accurate factually, because people on the internet point out your mistakes whenever they notice them.
Consider this blog the next step in this documentation journey. My articles are going to be the guides for myself and my readers as well. I may also share my experiences with different things.
I have a good knowledge of search engine optimization, so I would hope that I will find my audience from search engines like Google, Bing, etc., as well. Instagram will be my only preferred social media because I won’t be able to spend time recording videos for YouTube or replying to Reddit threads.
So, on a positive note, let’s publish this introductory article and start writing more. I promise my articles will be way more interesting than what people are getting used to after the advent of AI.
